Prior to this, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Magowan’s professional experience includes a clinical internship at St. John’s Rehabilitation Hospital in Toronto, and supporting the ARC adventure racing series as a member of the core medical team. He has also provided pre and post game treatment for numerous beach volleyball tournaments throughout Ontario. Dr. Magowan’s clinical interests range from the treatment of headaches and jaw pain to knee and foot pain. He also has a special interest in the management and prevention of both sport and work related injuries. Dr. Magowan has given lectures to numerous running clinics on the biomechanics, related injuries and methods for injury prevention related to running. He also provides ergonomic advice to office workers and their employees. Dr. Magowan is a Certified Active Release Techniques (ART®) provider. ART is a soft tissue treatment system designed to remove small areas of scar tissue or “adhesions” that develop in various soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligament, or fascia) as a result of injury and/or overtraining. A variety of soft tissue injuries such as plantar fascitis, shin splints, tennis elbow, jumper’s knee, patello-femoral pain, frozen shoulder, back and neck pain, headaches, and whiplash can be successfully treated using ART. Results commonly include both decreased pain and improved function. Brent is also certified in Graston Technique and has knowledge of a wide variety of supplements approved by the BC chiropractic association. Brent shares his time between Integrated Health Clinic in Fort Langley and Optimum Sport Performance & Health Centre. He is the proud new dad of Baby Alyssa - and a great dad he is!
